CPD Exemption Calculator

CPD exemptions do not require CA ANZ approval unless made by a Certificate of Public Practice (CPP) holder or Affiliate member (AU) or Non-Member Principal (NZ) on the grounds of exceptional circumstances under paragraph 7.5(d) of CA ANZ Regulation CR 7 Continuing Professional Development.

Members who are not CPP holders or Affiliate members, and who are not in full time employment or who have had a career break for any reason are entitled to a pro rata CPD exemption. Provisional members are not required to comply with CR 7. Full members and Affiliates are required to comply with CR 7 from 1 July after being granted full/Affiliate membership.

This CPD Exemption calculator is designed to assist you with calculating your own CPD exemption. Once complete, please save your calculation and supporting evidence with your other CPD records. You will be required to provide this, along with other records evidencing your completed CPD if you are selected for CPD monitoring in the future.

CPP holders, Affiliates, NMPs are not eligible for a CPD exemption as CA ANZ considers that these categories of membership must maintain the normal minimum level of CPD requirements (i.e total of at least 120 hours during the triennium, of which at least 90 hours must be verifiable including six hours of professional ethics training for trienniums commencing from 1 July 2024) to be able to competently act as principals in practice responsible for providing services to the public for reward.

CPP holders or Affiliate members or NMPs may however apply to the Board for a CPD exemption on the grounds of exceptional circumstances under paragraph 7.5(d) of CA ANZ Regulation CR 7 Continuing Professional Development.
